Earlier this month, the mother of deceased rapper FBG Duck filed a lawsuit seeking to link Lil Durk and his late protégé King Von to her son’s gang-related killing in the Gold Coast area of Chicago.

The lawsuit, filed in Cook County court, alleges that Lil Durk’s record label, Only The Family (OTF), functions as a criminal enterprise. OTF has held contracts with major labels like Sony, despite allegedly including artists involved in criminal activity.

Lil Durk’s arrest coincides with another high-profile case involving Chicago-based rappers. Five men from Chicago were arrested on Thursday and accused of participating in a murder-for-hire conspiracy targeting rapper Quando Rondo in California.

This plot reportedly stems from Quando Rondo’s alleged involvement in the shooting death of King Von, who was a high-ranking member of Lil Durk’s OTF collective.

King Von’s death occurred in November 2020 during a shootout in Atlanta. Lil Durk was charged with murder in connection to this incident but was acquitted in 2022.

These developments highlight the ongoing tensions and violent conflicts within Chicago’s hip-hop scene. Lil Durk’s arrest marks a significant escalation in the legal scrutiny faced by prominent figures in the city’s rap industry, particularly those associated with OTF and the drill music subgenre characterized by lyrics referencing gang violence.

As investigations continue, fans and industry observers await further details about the alleged murder-for-hire plot involving Lil Durk and the broader implications for Chicago’s influential rap scene.
